A Heart that Stays Soft
Scripture
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” — Proverbs 28:13–14 (ESV)

Prayer
Father, we praise You because You are merciful, gracious, and patient with us. You already know every part of us—the things we are proud of, the things we regret, and the things we would rather keep hidden. Thank You that when we turn to You in repentance, You do not turn away from us, but freely extend forgiveness to us. Thank You that because of Your great mercy, we have hope.
Help us to stop hiding the things You are asking us to confront. Give us humility to acknowledge our sin rather than justify it, minimize it, or blame someone else for it. And when You reveal something in us that needs to change, give us the courage not only to confess it but to turn away from it. Keep our hearts tender and responsive to Your correction instead of allowing pride, hurt, or repeated disobedience harden us.
In our relationships, help us practice that same honesty and humility. Give us the courage to apologize when we have caused harm, the grace to forgive when someone comes to us sincerely, and the wisdom to know when reconciliation requires changed behavior as well as words. Keep us from keeping score or allowing old hurts to harden our hearts toward people. Help us extend to others the same mercy You so generously extend to us.
Lord, keep our hearts soft toward You. Search us, correct us, forgive us, and continue shaping us into people who are willing to be changed. May we never become so comfortable with what is wrong that we stop hearing Your voice. Give us hearts that fear You, trust You, and respond quickly when You call us back to what is right. Thank You that Your mercy meets us when we turn to you in repentance and leads us forward in freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
