Pay Attention
“My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge.” Proverbs 5:1-2
Guard What is Happening Within
“My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:20-23
When I Don’t Understand
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Ask, Seek, Listen.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.” Proverbs 2:6-8
Where Wisdom Begins
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Proverbs 1:7
Let Grace Lead
“The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” I Corinthians 16:23-24
Stand Firm. Love Well.
Your Work is Not in Vain
“…in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed…When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written…”
Hope That is Certain
“But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep…For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” I Corinthians 15:20, 25 & 26
Standing Firm
“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.” I Corinthians 15:1-2
What Lasts
“Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away…For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” I Corinthians 13:8, 12, 13
Let Love Lead
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal...Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant…Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” I Corinthians 13:1,4,7
Different Gifts, Same God
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.” I Corinthians 12:4-6
For His Glory
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31
Looking Beyond Ourselves
“’All things are lawful,’ but not all things are helpful. ‘All things are lawful,’ but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.’” I Corinthians 10:23-24
I’m Curious Friends…
So friends, I’m curious…
God is Faithful
“Therefore, let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” I Corinthians 10:12-13
Run With Purpose
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” I Corinthians 9:24-27
Love That Builds Up
“…This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God. I Corinthians 8:1a-3
Be Faithful
“Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.” I Corinthians 7:17-20
