Steadfast in Every Season

Scripture

Our soul waits for the Lord, He is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love of the Lord be upon us, even as we hope in you. Psalm 33:20-22

Prayer

Father, You are our help and our shield. Your steadfast love is our lifeline. Because of Your great love, You rescued us. Your love sustains us, and Your love changes us to become more like You.

Lord, help us indeed to become more like You. Develop Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control more and more in our lives each day.

When we are tempted to respond to situations out of our own flesh, help us instead to rely on Your Spirit working within us and to choose to follow You.

Lord, as we learn to do this, we will not be so affected by our circumstances. We will become more steadfast like You and not be at the mercy of our emotions or what is going on around us.

Anchor us to You, Jesus.

In Your holy name we pray, Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Where is God inviting me to rely on His Spirit instead of reacting from my emotions or flesh today?

  2. What would it look like for me to remain anchored in Christ when my circumstances feel unsettled?
