What Matters Most

Scripture

“Better is a little where the fear of the Lord is than great treasure and trouble with it. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it.” — Proverbs 15:16–17 (ESV)

Prayer

Father, we praise You because You are our provider! Everything we have ultimately comes from Your hand. You remind us in Your word that abundance is not measured by what we possess, but by Your presence. Thank You that we do not have to chase after more to find a life that is fulfilling. You teach us that a heart that reveres You, a home filled with love, and Your peace that settles our anxious hearts - are treasures the world cannot buy.

Help us live according to that wisdom. Guard us from believing that more money, more possessions, more success, or more recognition will finally make us content. Teach us to receive what You have given us with gratitude rather than constantly focusing on what we wish we had. Give us wisdom to recognize when our pursuit of more is costing us something far more valuable.

Help us prioritize love in our relationships. May we never become so busy building a comfortable life that we neglect the people You have placed in it. Give us patience when relationships are difficult, humility when we need to apologize, and generosity with our time and attention. Let our homes and friendships be marked by love and hospitality, rather than competition, resentment, or perfectionism.

Lord, give us grateful hearts, peaceful homes, and relationships that reflect Your love. No matter our circumstances, may we be content knowing that we have You. Teach us to measure the richness of our lives not by what we can accumulate, but by the love we give, the relationships we nurture, and the way we walk with You. In Jesus’ name - Amen.
