The God of All Comfort

Scripture

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

When Your Son left this earth, He promised that He would not leave His disciples alone, but that He would send the Comforter—Your Holy Spirit—to be with them always. Thank You that this same Holy Spirit still comforts us today.

Lord, when our hearts are heavy for those who are suffering, help us to bring them before Your throne, trusting that You see and care for every need. Please be their comfort and their peace. Draw near to them, Father. Pour out Your mercy upon them and wrap them tightly in Your loving arms.

And Lord, I also pray for those who care for others in difficult moments—caregivers, healthcare workers, family members, and friends who carry so much as they support the ones they love. Please give them strength for each day. Fill them up, Father, so their cups are so full that they can continue to pour out to those around them.

Father, thank You that You are the God of all comfort. Help us not only to receive that comfort from You, but to extend it to others who are hurting. Open our eyes to the needs around us and help us reflect Your love in the way we care for people.

Even in hard seasons, help us to learn more about You. Shape our hearts through what we walk through, and don’t let us miss the ways You are moving in the middle of it all.

We love You, Lord. We praise You, for You are mighty, You are good, and You are faithful.

In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
