Steady and Unafraid

Scripture

“Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:9-11 ESV

Prayer

O mighty, all-powerful God—the One who created the earth and all that is in it, the One who raised Jesus from the dead and still performs countless miracles—You are for us.

Why would we be afraid when You are on our side, working all things for our good? We cannot control the things happening around us, but they cannot steal our salvation, our joy, or our hope. Those are steadfast and unchanging—just like You.

Make us steady. Let us be the fragrance of Christ to those around us. Help us to share the good news with those we encounter. Teach us not to walk in fear, but to walk boldly in Your power.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. What fear am I holding onto that I need to release in light of the truth that God is for me?

  2. How can I reflect Christ to someone today through my words or actions?
