Guard What is Happening Within

Scripture

“My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:20-23

Prayer

Lord, You tell us to pay attention to Your words and to guard our hearts above everything else. We know that what takes root within us eventually finds its way into the way we think, speak, and live. Help us to be intentional about what we allow to fill our hearts and minds.

Protect us from becoming so distracted by the noise around us that we stop listening to You. When fear, bitterness, comparison, disappointment, or worry begin to take root within us, help us recognize what is happening and bring it to You. Replace what is weighing us down with what is true, good, and life-giving.

Lord, search our hearts and show us the places we may be neglecting. Give us wisdom to know what we need to let go of and what we need to hold onto. Help us remember that guarding our hearts isn't about shutting ourselves off from the world, but about making sure our hearts remain anchored in You.

May what flows from our hearts bring life to those around us. Keep us close to Your Word, attentive to Your voice, and mindful of what shapes who we are becoming. In Jesus’ name - Amen.
