Let Peace Rule

Scripture

“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:14-15 ESV

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the instruction it gives us for our daily lives. This verse says, “Above all these things”—above compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience—you call us to put on love in order to bind it all together. Teach us more about Your love and how to walk it out.

Your Word also tells us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. If this weren’t possible, You wouldn’t have said it. “Let” implies it is our choice; help us choose to let peace rule even when chaos and anxiety surround us.

And finally, in all things, help us to be thankful.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Where in my life do I need to choose peace instead of allowing anxiety to rule?

  2. What would it look like today to “put on love in a way that binds everything together?
