Living Water

Scripture

“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”’”
—John 7:37–38 (ESV)

Prayer

Lord, you are the Living Water the source of all that truly satisfies. You alone know the deep places within us, the places that long to be filled, seen, and restored. We come to you today, thirsty and in need, trusting your invitation to come and drink freely.

Let your living water sink deep into our hearts and minds. Wash over every dry and weary place within us. Fill what is empty, mend what is broken, and quiet what is restless. Where we have been striving, bring stillness. Where we have been discouraged, bring renewed hope.

Lord, encourage our hearts today to press on in your truth. Help us to believe what you say is true, even when our circumstances feel uncertain. Let your Spirit flow in us and through us—bringing life, peace, and strength for each moment.

Pour out your peace and comfort over us. Settle our hearts in you, and remind us that you are near, attentive, and faithful in all things.

Be with our loved ones, Lord. Meet their needs—physically, emotionally, and especially spiritually. Draw them close to you, and let them know your presence in a real and personal way.

Protect us and provide for us today. Guide our steps, guard our hearts, and help us to walk in step with you.

We receive from you with open hands, trusting that you are more than enough. In Jesus’ name - Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Where in my life do I feel most “thirsty” right now—and have I brought that need honestly before the Lord?

  2. What would it look like today to truly receive from Him instead of trying to fill that need on my own?
