Love That Builds Up

Scritpure

“…This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.  I Corinthians 8:1a-3

Prayer

Father, thank You for the knowledge You have given us through Your Word. As we grow in our understanding of who You are, please guard our hearts from ever allowing that knowledge to become a source of pride. Remind us that knowing more about You is never the goal—knowing You more deeply is.

Teach us to love as You love. Help us to be patient with those who are still growing, gracious with those who see things differently, and humble enough to recognize that we still have much to learn. May our words and actions build others up instead of simply proving a point.

When we are tempted to rely on our own understanding, draw us back to You. Fill us with hearts that are quick to listen, slow to judge, and eager to extend the same grace You always freely give to us.

Thank You that You know us completely and love us fully. May that truth shape the way we love the people You place in our lives today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Am I pursuing a deeper relationship with God, or simply more knowledge about Him?

  2. Do I listen to others with a desire to understand, or simply to respond?
