Our Refuge & Shield

Scripture

“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them,  that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O Lord;  you cover him with favor as with a shield.” Psalm 5:11-12 (ESV)

Prayer

Father, we praise You today because You are our refuge, our protector, and our constant shield. No matter what we face, we can run to You with confidence, knowing You are always near. When fear, uncertainty, or disappointment threatens to overwhelm us, remind us that our security is found in You alone.

Lord, fill our hearts with lasting joy—the kind that isn’t dependent on our circumstances, but joy that comes only from knowing You. Help us to trust You even when we can't see what You're doing and teach us to rest in Your care. Thank You for surrounding us with Your protection.

Help us to live each day with hearts that rejoice in You. May our lives reflect Your goodness to those around us. Let others see the genuine peace, hope, and confidence that comes from taking refuge in You.

Thank You for Your unfailing love. We choose today to trust You, rejoice in You, and rest securely in the shelter of Your care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. What burden or fear do I need to place in God's hands today instead of carrying it myself?

  2. How can I intentionally choose joy today, knowing God is my refuge and my shield?
