Prayer
Father, we come before You with humble hearts, asking You to search us and show us the things within us that do not reflect Your character. We know it is easy to recognize pride, dishonesty, conflict, and wrongdoing in others while overlooking those same tendencies in ourselves. Give us the courage to let Your Word examine our hearts and reveal anything that needs to change.
Guard us from pride that tempts us to think we are superior to others, from words that distort the truth, and from attitudes that cause harm. Help us to be people whose hearts are honest, whose words are trustworthy, and whose actions bring life rather than hurt. When we are tempted to respond out of anger, selfishness, or pride, slow us down and help us to pause. As we do, please give us the wisdom to choose what honors You.
Keep our hearts from making plans that serve ourselves at the expense of others. Keep our feet from rushing toward things we know are wrong. And when we are given the opportunity to speak about someone else, help us to speak with truth, grace, and integrity rather than contributing to gossip, division, or discord.
Lord, make us people who bring peace wherever You place us. May our words build up rather than tear down, may our choices reflect Your goodness, and may our lives point others toward You. Give us soft hearts that are willing to be corrected and humble enough to change. We want not only to know what You hate, but to increasingly love what You love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What would it look like for me to intentionally love what God loves—and reject what He calls destructive?
Are there words I have spoken recently that were technically true but lacked grace, wisdom, or love?
