Shaped by His Word

Scripture

“I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.” Psalm 119:15–16 (ESV)

Prayer

Lord, we come to You this morning with grateful hearts. Thank You for Your Word—Your Word that encourages us, guides us, teaches us, and lovingly convicts us when we need it. Thank You that You have not left us to figure out this life on our own, but You have given us truth and direction through Your Word.

Give us a deep desire to be in Your Word and to truly know it. Help us to long for it more than anything else. Teach us to sit with the hard things,
and not rush away when truth feels uncomfortable. But instead, shape us through it. Like David, help us to meditate on Your Word, to fix our eyes on Your ways, and to delight in Your commands. Hide Your Word deep within our hearts so that we will not forget.

Thank You for Your precious promises—help us to live in light of them each day.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Do I approach God’s Word with a desire to be changed, or only to be comforted?

  2. What is one “hard truth” in Scripture I may be avoiding—and what would it look like to sit with it instead of rushing past it?
