Strength in His Power

 Scripture

And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1–5 (ESV)

 Prayer

Father, thank You that You do not ask us to be perfect before You can use us. You are not looking for polished words or impressive abilities—you are looking for hearts that are fully surrendered to You. Help us to keep our focus on Jesus Christ and never lose sight of the life-changing power of the cross.

Lord, when we feel weak, uncertain, or inadequate, remind us that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Keep us from relying on our own abilities or striving to impress others. Instead, teach us to depend fully on the work of Your Holy Spirit, trusting that You can accomplish far more through simple obedience than we ever could through our own efforts.

May our lives point others to You and not to ourselves. Let our words be filled with grace, our actions reflect Your love, and our faith rest securely in Your power alone. May everything we do bring glory to Jesus Christ, whose strength is always sufficient for every need. In His precious name, Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Is my focus on making much of myself, or making much of Jesus?

  2. What step of simple obedience is God asking me to take today, even if I feel inadequate?
