Walk in Humility and Integrity

Scripture

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.” — Proverbs 11:2–4 (ESV)

Prayer

Father, teach us to walk humbly before You. We know how easily pride can find its way into our hearts—through our accomplishments, our opinions, our relationships, or even our desire to be recognized. Keep us from becoming so focused on ourselves that we lose sight of You and the people around us. Give us the humility to recognize that every good thing we have ultimately comes from Your hand.

Give us integrity that remains steady whether anyone is watching or not. Help us live consistently with what we say we believe, making choices that honor You even when those choices are difficult or unnoticed. When we are tempted to compromise what is right for what is easier, more comfortable, or more beneficial to us, give us the courage to remain faithful.

Remind us not to place our confidence in the things this world tells us will make us secure. Wealth, accomplishments, possessions, and recognition can never give us what only You can provide. Help us hold temporary things loosely and invest our lives in what has lasting value.

Lord, let humility shape our attitudes, integrity guide our decisions, and righteousness define the direction of our lives. When we stumble, give us the humility to acknowledge our shortcomings. And as we walk through each day, may our lives quietly demonstrate that knowing and following You is worth more than anything we could gain. In Jesus name - Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. Where am I most vulnerable to pride, and what might humility look like in that area of my life?

  2. Would the choices I make in private consistently match the person I present to others?
