Prayer

Father, we praise You because You are wise, gracious, and good. You are a God who brings healing, restores what is broken, and speaks truth with love. Thank You for the wisdom of Your Word that shows us not only what is right, but also reveals the power our words can have. Thank You for being patient with us when our words have fallen short, and for continually teaching us how to reflect Your character.

Help us to walk out the wisdom You give us. Slow us down when we are tempted to speak out of frustration, anger, or pride. Give us discernment to know when to speak and when to remain quiet, and wisdom to choose words that are truthful without being unnecessarily hurtful. Teach us to think before we speak and to remember that once our words are spoken, we cannot take them back.

Father, shape the way we speak to the people You have placed in our lives. Help us be people whose words encourage rather than discourage, restore rather than tear down, and bring peace rather than division. Give us compassion for those who are hurting and the willingness to offer a word of hope and encouragement when someone needs it. And when we have wounded someone with our words, give us the humility to acknowledge it, apologize, and seek to make it right.

Lord, let the words we speak flow from hearts that are being transformed by You. May our conversations reflect Your wisdom and grace, and may the people around us experience something of Your love through the way we speak to them. Keep reminding us that our words have power, and help us use that power well. May our tongues be instruments of healing wherever You place us. In Jesus’ name - Amen.
