Your Work is Not in Vain
Scripture
“…in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed…When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
‘Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?’
…Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” I Corinthians 15:52, 54-55, 58
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your precious promises in these verses. What is temporary and perishable will be replaced with what is eternal and imperishable. Thank You that the story does not end with this life and that, because of Christ, we have a future that is greater than anything we can see or understand today.
Father, thank You for the victory You have given us through Jesus Christ. Death does not have the final word. Sin, suffering, disappointment, and everything that feels broken in this world will one day be overcome. Help us hold onto that truth when life feels hard and remind us that our hope is not based on what is happening around us, but on what You have promised.
Lord, because of that hope, help us to remain steadfast and faithful. When we are tired, discouraged, or wondering if what we do matters, remind us that our work for You is never in vain. Give us the strength to keep serving, keep loving, and keep doing what You have called us to do. Help us live today with eternity in view, knowing that the victory is already ours through Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
